Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Burna Boy has achieved another career milestone after his collaborative FIFA World Cup song with Colombian singer Shakira, Dai Dai, became the highest-charting World Cup anthem in Billboard Hot 100 history.
The song surged 25 places on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 to reach a new peak of No. 17, overtaking Shakira and Freshlyground’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which had long held the record as the highest-charting World Cup song.
Dai Dai also climbed to No. 3 on the Canadian Hot 100 this week, further cementing its global success. The track is also in the race for the No. 1 position on the UK Official Singles Chart.

In another development, Billboard has officially discontinued its World Digital Song Sales chart, with the final edition published on June 27, 2026.
The now-defunct chart tracked the commercial performance of songs from markets including Nigeria, Asia, the Caribbean, South Africa and other territories around the world.
Over the years, several Nigerian artistes, including Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Rema, reached the summit of the World Digital Song Sales chart, highlighting the growing international appeal of Afrobeats.
